The recall affects the Yamaha TW200 (which wasn’t sold officially in the UK) built from 1987 to 2001. Just six complaints and one minor accident have prompted the huge recall, according to Yamaha.

Well all I can say is hats off to Yamaha. This must be one of the most comprehensive recalls and is based on a very small number of complaints. Good customer service? Or just over reaction…

The shock just failed on my 96 TW200. I received minor injuries when the shock mount broke off. I am not interested in any legal action against yamaha as long as they are willing to replace the shock. I also own a 2002 TW200. The shock on this bike is much beefier and obviously much better constructed. Please just replace the shock on my 96 TW200 as soon as possible. I love these bikes and I just want it back in running order.
