Does Old Bike Barn pay any attention to blog feedback?

Well apparently in the case of Old Bike barn, the answer is a resounding NO! Take a look at this list of complaints about Old Bike barn, which stated around June this year, They are from a number of posts on Old Bike barn, but mostly tagged on a post I made about an Xmas promotion that Old Bike Barn were making.
Read it and weep. Up til now I have had no response from Old Bike Barn despite several attempt to bring this customer dissatisfaction to their attention. By the way, the Mike in these comments is me…
If you have comments to make about Old Bike Barn, please place them here from now on so everyone can see all the posts.

My first order from old bike barn was in April. I was told that it was in stock.Repeated email have gone out with no reply, phone calls have not been returned and when I did get to a human ( i think) I was told another 4 to 6 weeks. Word of mouth works both ways. Any other stories out there???

Steve I’m sorry to hear about your experience with Old Bike Barn, I thought a company willing to advertise coupon deals like this might offer a slightly better customer care program than that. I would love to see Old bike barn give a response to this on this blog….

I ordered parts on May 27, 2009, and my credit card was charged on the same day. On June 2, 3 and 4 I tried to contact them re: my order, which was listed on their site as \”awaiting fulfillment\”. They never answered the direct phone line nor the 800 line. I posted a note on their site to cancel my order and refund the money. Guess what, the parts were shipped the next day. Forget those guys with all the hype if they can\’t do business in a professional way.

Jim I appreciate your comments. I put my post up about Old Bike Barn to flag their %15 promotion, but after seeing these two posts I feel a slightly different blog coming on. On my main site, wwww.motorcycleparts-accessories-andmore.com, I have removed links from companies who received some bad pres which was backed up by the buyers with evidence of course. I agree with you, in this climate there is not much of an excuse for mistreating your customers.

I’m currently undergoing the “pending fullfillment” dance with Old Bike Barn. I ordered parts on June 1st and as of the 9th they still haven’t shipped. My email on the 5th has still gone unanswered.

I ordered part from them on 6-9-09, no parts by the 16th, so I e-mailed them, no response, I called, no answer. I have e-mailed at least twice with no response. My order is Pending fulfillment. I have now initiated a claim with my bank in regards to this transaction. It is now 6-27-09 and nothing. I did place an order for some parts with Bike Bandit on the 17th, and the parts arrived in 3 days! No more bike barn for me!

Ordered a part from Old Bike Barn on June 14th. The money has been taken out of my account but my order is still “pending fulfillment”. Can’t get anyone on the phone. All they have is a recording saying that no one is available to answer my call. I will NEVER order anything from this company again.

This is a really sorry tale of p*** poor customer service. What with the news out that HD ar laying off 1000 workers and closing four plants, you would think that companies in the motorcycle parts selling game would be bending over backwards to keep customers. Not Old Bike Barn it seems.
Thanks for all your comments, just so that you all know on your behalf I took the liberty of filling in a customer complaint form on their site. detailing this thread of complaints and inviting a response. So far? Nothing.
But hey we can live in hope…

Yep, Old Bike Barn is up there with the best of scams.
You order an item/items, they charge your credit card more than what your order should have been then nothing….No merchandise, No contact etc.
If this happens to you, save all of your attempts to contact them, receipts etc. and contact your bank that you have your card with and they will go after them. Stay clear of these guys…

I placed an order with bike barn June 4. Sent an e-mail June 17th with no reply. Called several times but automation won’t take calls. This is my first time shopping with old bike barn and i’ve got a very bad taste in my mouth about it. Bike Bandit is much better about shipping but don’t have the same selection for older bikes as old bike barn. But what good is the selection if the parts never get sent. If anyone else has ideas on a good place to get old honda cb750 parts, please let me know.

I am going to have another go a bringing this to OBBs attention, I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again for you comments. I honestly believe that this kind of feedback is great for anyone looking for a dealer who will deliver on all counts. OBB clearly isn’t doing that on any.

I placed an order with O.B.B. on July 6 for some fairly generic Honda Magna V30 parts. I had attempted to place the order several days earlier, but their website seemed to be experiencing problems. When it finally did accept my order, it charged my credit card immediately, but didn’t credit the 15% 4th of July discount code they were currently offering… and which I’d entered when ordering. Like others, my order status has showed “Pending Fulfillment” for several weeks now and the company has not been responsive to either e-mail and/or phone messages.
After repeated attempts, I finally reached a sales representative who said that my problems (15% credit & shipping details) would be taken care of shortly. Well, I’m still waiting… and, now I’m not able to access my order on their website at all, although it does show me as being logged in. And, again it seems impossible to reach them by phone.
I hope this is only a rare glitch, and that they are great guys, but…

I do not recommend The Old Bike Barn for online orders. I purchased on July 8th, cancelled due to no activity on the 18, received a reply on the 22nd from one of three inquiries, and was told that my refund had been processed on the 29th. Still no refund on August 1st. Luckily I’m not out much on the order. So what are the possibilities that ODBB is holding orders for the interest on the purchase? Maybe just greedy?

I placed an order July 9, 2009 still haven’t received anything in almost a month. Emailed them a few times getting no response back, calling multiple times a day to get their recording. When I wrote an email saying I want to cancel my order and get a refund, I got an email back from them within an hour saying the parts were on back order but they have them ready to ship now. Funny…. I still demanded a refund cause I do not want to support such a poor company. Now I get to see how long it takes them to do a refund. Horray!

Another old bike barn problem here too… Ordered July 20th and my card was charged the same day. Two weeks later the order is still ‘pending fulfillment’… I complained by email and now the order is ‘closed’, but they still have my money. I filed a report with The better Business Bureau, scheduled an appointment with a US Postal inspector for possible mail fraud (the order was to be shipped priority mail). I’m headed to the bank in the morning to dispute the charges. I recommend that you DO NOT have anything to do with this company. By the way, then display the Better Business Bureau logo on their site… its a copyright infringement as they are NOT a member of the BBB.

I wish I found this blog sooner.
I ordered $266 worth of parts on July 26, and they took my money that day. Three and a half weeks later, and I haven’t received ANYTHING. I’ve contacted them several times by email but all they do is open a support ticket which gets ignored. They wont even tell me what “pending fulfillment” means. They dont answer their phone.
I’m contacting the Better Business Bureau today as well as announcing on every message board I’m a member of to NOT shop here.
Extremely shady and unprofessional.

DO NOT waste your time or money dealing with these scam artists!!! Three weeks and counting now and I can’t get hold of a human or get any type of response from them. Most likely going to request a refund, which will probably lead to a dispute of charges with my card issuer. What a bunch of jerks!!

I also order parts on June 20 and have not seen them yet. Interesting, it seems they have taken the 1-800 number off the website. I could choose to be really upset, but I am more curious as to why the sudden demise of what appeared to be a decent company.

I think this is a sad situation that is probably indicative of the times. I have bought numerous parts from Old Bike Barn over the last 4 years and they always were delivered as advertised, as recently in May 2008. I placed an order for a single set of brake pads 08/11/09 and though my credit card was charged, haven’t received anything. Like others have reported, no one answers the phone, and the email “case file” remains unanswered. I too am “awaiting fulfillment” according to the order log on the website. I’ll dispute the charges with the credit card company and probably won’t lose anything. I don’t think the Old Bike Barn is a scam, i think they got crushed beneath the wheel like many businesses and home owners and are probably finished. I agree with the advice to not order anything more from them (I won”t) but disagree that this is an outright fraud based on my previous experiences. Their BBB certification is a false claim, however, which doesn’t give anyone a warm and fuzzy about their honesty.

It seems that Bike Barn still has not changed their ways. I ordered parts 3 weeks ago (august 5) and the order still says pending fullfilment. I have used their site to send them 3 emails asking when the order will ship (one each week) and have not heard back from them yet. If you need your parts in a hurry do not order from Bike Barn.
Here’s the latest in my dealings with Old Bike Barn in response to a case I put up on the customer service system:
“Hey There,
Our sincere apologies for the delay with your order. We’re experiencing some unexpected delays from the manufacturer that has set us back by a few weeks. Although we’re doing everything possible to get the parts ASAP, we don’t have the new stock to ship just yet.
We should have more information after this weekend, but right now the ETA is approximately 1 week. If you need any other information, or require any changes to the order, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you.”
Kinda reminds me of Bernie Madoff and his ponzi scheme. Looks like all the current credit cards being charged may pay for the backorders “awaiting fulfillment”. At least they are admitting that they don’t have the parts they charged me for.
Let the buyer beware.
2 weeks ago I ordered parts from Old Bike Barn and since then I’ve……*!#$*^@%#”"?%…..well you know the rest. These people suck bat guano from cave walls.
My experience with OBB has been virtually the same as many of the others here. My biggest mistake was in not checking them out BEFORE placing an order with them.
Ordered parts to the tune of almost $500.00 July 22nd. Took forever but finally received some of the order. Can never get through on the phone either, so sent emails, etc.. Now, well over 6 weeks later, I finally spoke with a live person in customer service who says that one of the remaining items is \"in transit\" to OBB. Must be coming from Mars, as best I can tell. CS rep says he \"thinks\" it\’s coming from California. Must be taking the scenic route though as he says it was on the truck from there, 10 days ago. At any rate, and his vagueness taken into account, he said it would arrive on a pallet with other orders. Guessing perhaps they only apy to ship when they have a full pallet order from the manufacturer and just hold all the other orders till the pallet is full? No idea. CS rep has no ideas about that either. He actually had little idea on any details about shipping methods they use. Also had the same experience with them saying the parts were in stock when I ordered them. It\’s certainly poor business practice and I\’ve had it with them and will never order even a bolt from OBB in the future as it would probably rust by the time I ever received it. I tried explaining to the CS rep that I\’m losing a lot of riding time while my bike is down, waiting for these stinking parts. Fall is coming and I don\’t ride much in Winter. He obviously couldn\’t care less. The \"pattern\" continues friends, because like everyone else here, OBB got paid paid in full for the parts the day I ordered them and now, 6 weeks later, several parts are still missing in action and, I\’m out the money and can\’t seem to say or do anything to get them off their duffs to give this matter the attention it deserves. What about false advertising? What about lying to customers for weeks on end? What about charging us for parts long before they ship and getting away with all that? Who you gonna call anyhow? BBB is sometimes little more than a joke. I mean really…what does the BBB ever really tell us about businesses anyway? VERY little. Even negative reports I\’ve read contain precious little useful information and no details to speak of, so what\’s the point bothering with them? I think if one wants any hope of much of anything being done about these kinds of situations, then one is gonna have to go to the Department of Consumer Affairs in their home state or the state in which a business is located and does business. In the case of OBB, it\’s New York State. Otherwise, it\’s just live and learn. Here\’s to better and more forthright customer service in the future…where ever we take our business. Bike Bandit was mentioned in several of the above posts: For the record, I have ordered from Bike Bandit in the past and have only had a good experience with them. Unfortunately they didn\’t have some of the parts I needed on this order, so decided to give OBB a try. Never again! Good luck to those of you who are trying to work with your banks or credit card institutions. In todays economic climate, that may be a tough go. As usual, us consumer, worker bees are left holding the bag. Obama is bailing out seriously mis-managed BIG businesses to the tune of billions and billions and those at the top, (you know…the P\’s and VP\’s who ran them into the ground) are getting multi-million dollar bonuses for their poor performances…but nary a recourse for us lowly consumers who just want to ride our bikes. These businesses know well that we aren\’t likely to hire a lawyer and go after them in court, just to recoup a few hundred bucks, so they take us to the cleaners like this, en masse, and evidently, it works for them. We\’re still stuck when all is said and done. Maybe I\’ll sell my bikes and take up fishing…a lot cheaper I hear. LOL
Chris, thanks for the detailed info. And by the way fishing and biking arent mutually exclusive you know, I have been known to wet a line now and again….
Keep ridin (when you get the parts you need…)
I have gotten the same no answer/no parts runaround from OBB that many others have gotten recently. I am interested in knowing their actual location, with street or mailing address. If they are located in New York state, I will contact my attorney, as NY has some of the toughest consumer-protection laws in the country.
Also, does anyone reading these posts have an active telephone number for OBB?
Thanks for the help,
MIke
Their phone number is 1-800-616-8495.
Not sure what the address is – It’s on S. Peru Street, or something.
I’ve been sitting around for two weeks with my thumb up my a** waiting for these parts, not being able to ride in the good weather. How are they gonna just take people’s money like this? I live in Texas so I can’t just run up to New York and start whipping their a**es. If you New Yorker’s can figure anything out with your lawyers and such I would love to hear what’s going on and how to get my money back and ultimately put these pieces of sh*t out of business.
Oh yeah, and use Z1 enterprises for future orders they are great.

I wish I had seenall of these posts before placing my order. I have been telling my mechanic for a week now that the parts should be there anyday now and have just recently logged onto my account to find that the order hasn\’t yet even been fulfilled. They didn\’t bother to say it was on back order or give any indication that it would not be shipped. I will be cancelling the order and let the bank take their money back. This is no way for anyone to do business.
glad I just found this blog. Sitting on the phone listening to music on the 2nd attempt at getting OBB customer service to place an order. No response by phone in 15 minutes of waiting, just music. Credit card sitting out on my desk. Just came across this and hung up the phone promptly. Thanks to all who posted.
I just wish I had came across this info before I placed my order. These people are a joke I placed an order on the 19th of aug 09 for a clutch m cylinder kit for a bike I have to ride to and from work so I thought I will just have it shipped priority mail and have it up and running in just a few days, so I placed the order was sent an email saying it was awaiting fullfilment. I waited a week and a half tried emailing customer service and they couldnt even find my order and after the third email they still couldnt find it I i gave them the conf number and the order number. I then thought i will just call and call and call and call finaly after 2-3 hours of calling and redialing over and over I got a real live person and he informed me that it was back ordered and would be in any time.I was still waiting untill yesterday, when I sent an eamil to cancel the order and refund the total price of the charges to my card, this was the 9th of september 09. Well guess what the email must have found its mark becouse they cancelled it quickly, but no notification. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!
Sure glad I read about Old Bike Barn here, never sent my part, they did not answer the phone but did respond to an email to get a refund
same here. Been waiting on a front rotor for a month now. But cedit card has already been billed for it. Called them and they say ther are waiting on a shipment from the manufacturer. Tis company sucks badly.
Has anyone NOT have a problem with Old Bike Barn? I just made a order recently.. i should’ve looked for reviews first.. but how can they get away with this?!?!?
Ordered a chain and sprocket on 8-28 its now 9-15 and still pending fulfillment. I sent multiple e-mails and no response. It makes me so angry that they can get away with this.
i orderd carb kits on jul 22 its sep 15 and still no parts this place is a scam their phone is disconected and they wont answer my emails i hate their guts
I placed an order on 8-31-09, They charged my account the next day. I have yet to receive any notification of shipping. I have made repeated attempts to contact them by phone and email with no response. I contacted my Bank to start the process of having them put pressure on them. They have by law 30 days to get the items to you then your bank can start going after your funds. Good luck to all and spread the word about this business. Please contact the Better Business Bureau they should not be members.
I have also contacted the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU at http://www.bbb.org I urge everyone else having problems to contact them and place a complaint. They can help you with getting your funds returned
Here’s another website with a way to report them to the NY Attorney General
http://www.nabble.com/Old-Bike-Barn—Say-hello-to-NY-Attorney-General-td25268273.html
Ordered a CDI nearly 2 MONTHS AGO and still nothing! Same runaround that everyone else here is getting. No response to 90% of emails. Responded once to say item was backordered (even though their site said it was in stock). I even paid for expedited shipping because I needed the part quickly. I will NEVER buy from these scam artists again. Time to dispute the charge with my CC company. Ugh…
Ordered parts for my 1981 GS750 that I was planning on having up and running this September. Ordered the parts and they charged my card same day in early/mid-August. It is now September 19th as I write this and they still have not come. Order is still pending fulfillment, however, I did receive an email back from them after 5 attempts to contact them. They said they were receiving a shipment that week and the parts I ordered are on that and they will send them as soon as they get it. That was September 7th. I checked with BBB on the company and they are on an ‘F’ rating. The BBB logo on OBB’s website isn’t even real! It is supposed to link to BBB’s website.
I purchased some carburetor rebuild kits from Old Bike Barn on August 2nd. After many weeks of no parts, I called my credit card company and they reversed the payment back into my account. Well after about 6 weeks the parts finally showed up in mid September. They delivered brand new parts perfectly packed. Luckily, I still needed the parts. So, I called my credit card up and told them the parts I ordered did finally arrive and to please give the money back to Old Bike Barn. I never thought this would happen. Hopefully this company will get better with there customer service and parts delivery time. I hope they improve and are successful because it would be nice to have them there if we need them.
Wow. I only wish I’d found this site a month ago! I placed an order for a tire and a few other items at the end of August with my card being charged the first business day after I placed the order. I think it should be noted that the “normal” procedure that most online retailers use is to charge the customer’s card when the items ship, not when you receive the order – not even having the items in stock, not knowing when or if you can get the items, etc.
Anyway, here I sit more than three weeks after payment and nothing. I sent a message through their “contact” form yesterday asking about the “Pending Fulfillment” status and trying to get a shipping estimate. Surprisingly, especially after reading the comments here, I only got the automated response that my case has been opened. So I check this morning and my order status has been changed to “closed”. They made no attempt to contact me, email me, answer my question, nothing. And again surprisingly, no refund has posted to my card. I sent another ticket and I’ll see where it goes. If I don’t have a refund in the next few days I’ll go ahead and start the dispute process.
Live and learn I guess…
As a previous posts suggest, do not order from these crooks! I placed my order in early August, THEN came across this site…needless to say, endless emails, multiple phone calls, all proved unsuccessful, so off to my bank to dispute the transaction. Keep tabs of your email attempts, phone calls, etc., and unless your bank can contact them and get some guarantee your order is on it\’s way, you should be credited. One day after my bank posted a \"provisional\" credit to my account (pending possible contact with BB), BB\’s site displayed my order status as \"closed\", which I assume is indication that they\’ve given up on my order and won\’t be getting a dime from me!
Thanks everyone who shared your nightmare of OBB I was just about to hit submit for my order when I came across this site, when I searching to see where it would be shipping from. Now I just need to find some place good that does have the coils for my 74 Honda CB550. Any suggestions?
Hi I ordered parts from OBB and had the same issues (no response to any communications and no parts) and after two weeks, canceled my order, canceled the credit card transaction and re-ordered with Dennis Kirk, instant order conformation and the parts arrived within a week, sent to Australia!! Go DK.
Hi I sure wished I had found this before I ordered from The Old Bike Barn!!!! I have ordered parts and have not received them. Same deal as everyone else order waiting fullfillment and no responce to emails or will not answer the phone!!!! These people need to be closed down they suck!!!!! In the process now trying to get a refund. I would tell anyone out there that is considerering using the old bike barn to not do it!!!!!!!!!
i have recieved the worst customer service in history from old bike barn i ordered friction plates for my cbr 600 as we all know i should have recieved no less than 9 rings i got five and on top of that they were the wrong size shiped them back 2 weeks ago still no credit back to account still waiting……………..
Take a sample of all of the other complaints and that is my experience.
After waiting over 30 days for fulfillment, I received 2 out of 3 parts I had ordered.
Two weeks later and I am still waiting for the 3rd item.
Of course, they were quick to ding my credit card the full amount of the purchase.
Phone calls and emails do not seem to penetrate their haze of customer indifference.
Perhaps they are all out fishing on Lake Champlain?
