Old Bike Barn gets a bashing….
To find the beast deals in Motorcycle JacketsPosted Under: Motorcycle retailers
A while back I put up a post about a %15 discount being offered by Old Bike Barn in order to get new customers on board I guess.
Well a couple of guys found my post and put up some less than flattering comments about Old Bike Barn. You can read the comments right here. Whats your opinion? The same? Are you a satisfied customer? Maybe you are the CEO of Old bike Barn and want to stick up for your company, or offer some recompense to the disgruntled consumers venting their spleens. I have my own opinions about the best places to buy motorcycle helmets, motorcycle tires and the like, but I would love to hear from you guys out there. who knows you might help a fellow biker make a more informed buying decision. After all I don’t know about you but I certainly don’t have money to burn at the moment…
Come on, post your thoughts and lets share some good quality info on some of these online retailers…

This website is horrible, i am having the same problems as everyone else. Lying about it being in stock, and my parts have been delayed for about a month now. Wondering if i will ever get my parts.
Loren thanks for your comment, I am going to make a post later today about the follow up I made to Bike Barn on your andother riders behalf, so look out for that. By the way, when you said “this website is horrible”, you didnt mean my website did you?
I think this is a sad situation that is probably indicative of the times. I have bought numerous parts from Old Bike Barn over the last 4 years and they always were delivered as advertised, as recently in May 2008. I placed an order for a single set of brake pads 08/11/09 and though my credit card was charged, haven’t received anything. Like others have reported, no one answers the phone, and the email “case file” remains unanswered. I too am “awaiting fulfillment” according to the order log on the website. I’ll dispute the charges with the credit card company and probably won’t lose anything. I don’t think the Old Bike Barn is a scam, i think they got crushed beneath the wheel like many businesses and home owners and are probably finished. I agree with the advice to not order anything more from them (I won”t) but disagree that this is an outright fraud based on my previous experiences. Their BBB certification is a false claim, however, which doesn’t give anyone a warm and fuzzy about their honesty.
I also order parts on June 20 and have not seen them yet. Interesting, it seems they have taken the 1-800 number off the website. I could choose to be really upset, but I am more curious as to why the sudden demise of what appeared to be a decent company.
Joebob, I think you are right, I seem to remember Ridegear went through a situation like this before they went bust. Luckily they seem to have come back pretty strong since being taken over by the Cruiser customizing guys.
Do you think there is an excuse for taking peoples money and not supplying though? This is the part I have a problem with…
Mike,
I completely agree that Old Bike Barn should not be accepting orders and charging credit cards if they don\’t have merchandise to ship. As a rule, I will never deal with any company who charges a credit card on a back ordered or out of stock item unless they explain the situation out front and I agree. My comment was not meant to justify what\’s going on because its wrong and illegal. I just wanted to point out that it was not always this way with these guys. They would be well advised to shut their website down before the bad situation they are apparently in gets worse. As an aside, I received an email from them today \"Get a headstart on your winter bike project\" so their still pressing it. All we can do at this point is to get the word out not to place any more orders.
Wow, I wish I had checked on Old Bike Barn before I ordered from them. I bought something from them a couple of years ago and had no problems. Now, my story is the same as everyone else’s on here. They have an “F” rating with the BBB by the way. With this many people being ripped off, surely a class action suit or something would be appropriate?
While on the subject, I am having similar problems with http://www.interstatecycle.com Has the bike part industry gone completely mad? Where can I buy parts for old bikes these days? Dennis Kirk is reliable but they don’t have what I need…
What I get from this is they moved the address from Canada to NY and it fouled up their business but good.
It IS illegal to charge immediately for items not in stock.
It IS morally bankrupt to hold refunds hostage.
It IS stupidly self-destructive to allow post after post to flood the forums and blogs without actually trying to FIX the problem.
It IS arrogant to expect folks to understand and wait when our LIVES are at stake on our motorcycles when we don\’t have the parts to make them safe to ride.
It IS time to shut your doors, Mr. Bear, when all you can do is sit silently by while Rome burns.
Any NY State politicians reading this who need to make their bones on nailing an obvious thief?
And yes, my month-old order has been \"closed\" with no product shipped, no refund, and (so far) no response from my emails and the phone lines are out.
